Trainer's Page

Barclays Arabians welcomes Arabian Trainer, Amanda Wilson to our team. She has the quality standards and the training background we are proud to share with our horses and our clients. Amanada also believes in a level of training we strive for here at the farm. A type of training that is sometimes hard to find. This is what makes finding Amanda a true blessing.

She is not only training horses for clients she is also working with Pharaoh and others in our four legged Arabain family. Amanda will also be showing Pharaoh in Hunter Pleasure and other horse this season so watch for them.

Here is a little background from Amanda:

I got my start as a serious rider when I worked for two small Arabian farms near Houston, first as a working student and then as assistant trainer/barn manager. I studied principles of stable management and horse care, developed my riding skills, began to understand breeding philosophies and learned a great deal about dedication, work ethic and personal sacrifice.

These farms provided the foundation and horsemanship background that I rely on as I continue to refine my techniques and abilities as a professional today. During this time I was competitive in Arabian/Half-Arabian Hunter Pleasure, Western Pleasure, Stock & Huntseat Equitation and Dressage.

In 2003, I moved to Northern California in search of new experiences and a change of scenery. While in California, I managed a private breeding farm where I trained the show horses for Western Pleasure, Hunter/Jumper and Driving competition and handled their breeding stallions and young horses.

I had the opportunity to greatly expand my knowledge of mare and foal care while working for one of Northern California's premier Thoroughbred farms as an equine midwife. I delivered many, many babies and handled young, hot Thoroughbreds as they developed into the world-class athletes they would become.

The philosophy I have developed over time is one of patience. Rather than training to fit the current show-ring fads, I will thoroughly educate each horse so that they have a solid foundation of basics before pursuing more specific, discipline oriented work.

In late 2007, I moved back to Texas, and am now based just west of San Antonio, in Castroville. I currently split my time between Spindletop Farm, where I train and teach, and Barclays Arabians. I am very excited to be working with Barclays Arabians! Thanks Sherri and Bill for giving me the opportunity to work with your wonderful horses and clients!
