Day Three

June 5th

I went back to see Alita again in the afternoon and she still seemed to be in the same place I saw her the day before. She stood by her food bucket however was not eating. The vet tech told me she had not eaten the night before either.

I had just been by the feed store so I had several bags of grain in the back of the truck. I asked the tech if we could try her food and he said OK so we got it out, I dumped her other food from the bucket, put hers in it and happily brought it to her. "Here’s some of "Your" food from home." I told her as I hung the bucket on the panel in her stall. She leaned over, sniffed it and to my delight began eating! This was good.

The tech said "Wow she’s eating!" I told him she just needed a little bit of home cooking to bring her taste buds around. She gladly ate the entire bucket and I said my good byes. I told her I would be thinking about her and that she had another surgery tomorrow. I will be out to see you again. I gave her a kiss, hug and a pat good bye. I then left a bag of her food for them to feed her.
