Week Eight

July 21st-27th

The Challenge

We finally got the brace on but Luis thinks her cartilage is finally calcifying and fusing her knee so it won't move. I don't want her to be in pain but she is still so alive and alert. I am told we have to use the brace for support but the pressure in her knee is really hurting her and then I am adding more pressure with the bandages. Without the brace she won't use it at all.

Then to top it all off my truck went out hauling a horse yesterday. I am looking @ a considerable amount of $$$. Guess hauling horses so much finally took it's toll on my truck. My dad had brain surgery from riding a roller coaster recently and is having complications from it, our daughter is having some challenges again and Alita won't walk on that dang leg! It seems to never end!

Alita is still very strong and she still is in foal. We saw the baby move last night which gave me hope. I think Alita is hanging on for her foal as well. She is a warrior like her great ancestors and she isn’t ready to give up.

I KNOW I will know when it is time. I continue to turn to the message board to get support and comfort and I usually do. There are lots of positive thought coming Alita’s way and as I said before she hears them all.

Alita will come out today to have some grass and to change her brace as the mud isn’t as bad right now. She will get more x-rays in the next two weeks and we will see what is happening. Last time the vet thought the worst and was wrong. Hopefully it will be the same this time.

We have finished the SMZ tablets again and the wound is looking much better. It has almost healed over. We know the outside is doing well it’s the inside that worries me.
