Weeks 19 & 20

October 6th - October 19th

Still no change & Lots of rain!

At the beginning of the week our precious Alita is still doing the best she can. It has begun to rain yet again and it looks like it may rain for awhile. I hate the rain because it means that she is stuck in her stall and can’t come out for days after it stops because walking in the mud is far to hard for her.

She doesn’t seem to mind it too much. Well, besides her trying to chew her way to China through all the untreated wood she can find she is taking it like a lady. She is still eating well and it is had to tell if she is still pregnant. When she is up she looks it at times and then others she doesn’t look it at all. Later in the week we will find out.

Well, the vet had to CXLL due to now having to be out of the office on Saturday. I guess that is another omen that we can wait. The rain has stopped so she is once again out during the day and in at night. Her buddy Echo still stands outside her stall as Alita sleeps and she watches over her. They are quite a pair.

Since we did not go to the vet we decided to do a photo shoot on Sunday. Diana is going to bring lots of props and a young lady to take some pictures with Alita. We are going to sell these pictures on cards for Christmas and also on all occasion cards. The shoot was GREAT. There was only one outburst by one of the yearling colts that got the whole bunch going but he soon enough got shut into a stall so the rest of the clan would get back to the shoot.

Both Alita and Ech had their pics taken. Alita with a young girl named Ginger and Echo with her owner Caylie. The pictures were just precious and I can’t wait to get them back. Alita was such a good sport with poinsettias wired in her forelock and mane. Ginger help a basket of apples and carrots for her at the stall door and Alita kept sneaking not just a bite however an entire apple or carrot whenever possible. Ginger kept saying "She’s eating the props people!"

The following week not much happened. We did get the photos back and they are wonderful. Alita, Ginger, Echo and Caylie all looked very professional and did a great job. They are all natural born models including the horses. Once again we are scheduled for a visit to the vet during the week of November 3rdh. Hopefully this time we can make it work. LaNet is still offering her trailer with the ramp to make it easier on Alita.

We still are giving her 14% feed 2x a day along with Beet Pulp. I have her down again to 1 Bute a day and she is doing OK with that. Her supplement is out and we do not currently have the funds to buy more. Maybe if we sell a horse, sell some of the cards with her photo on it or get a few more donations in the next few weeks I can get another few months supply. She also is keeping the polo wraps and SMB boots on her legs. The SMB boots are on the front only and the rear legs have racing quilts as well as polos on them.
